There’s a new Brothers in Arms game coming from Gearbox Software in 2012, but it’s not the normal WWII shooter you’ve come to expect from the series. Called Brothers in Arms Furious 4, the game is more like Inglourious Basterds than a historical shooter.

The brutal first-person shooter offers a moderately comical campaign mode playable with up to four players in co-op, as well as a competitive multiplayer mode. The story follows four warriors chasing Hitler himself, with each of the Furious 4 soldiers having unique weaponry and combat abilities to fight the greatest threat the world has ever faced: an experimental Nazi army conceived in secret by the Third Reich.
Brothers in Arms Furious 4 will be available worldwide for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 during the first half of 2012. A specific release date will be announced at a later time.
