SEGA and Disney Interactive have officially announced the Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse release date, as well as its price and pre-order specials. Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, the fantastical re-imagining of the original SEGA Genesis game, will release on PS3 on Sept. 3 and on Xbox 360 on Sept. 4.
Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse will only be released as a digital download via PlayStation Network (PSN) and Xbox Live Arcade. The game will cost $14.99/£ 9.99 on PS3 and €14.99/1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360. Won’t it be nice when the Xbox 360 (and Xbox One) go exclusively to cash rather than “Points”?
North American PS3 owners who pre-order Castle of Illusion on PSN from Aug. 20 to Sept. 2 will receive the original SEGA Genesis version of game, one pre-order exclusive dynamic theme, and three avatars. Customers will be able to download the original game immediately after pre-ordering.
SEGA did not indicate whether the same pre-order incentives exist for Xbox 360 owners. So, if you have an Xbox 360, the only news you have today is the Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse release date. Sorry.
With all-new HD graphics and gameplay, Castle of Illusion brings Mickey and his magical world to life. When the evil witch Mizrabel kidnaps Minnie, it’s up to Mickey to brave the dangers of the Castle of Illusion to rescue Minnie. Players will gather their courage and take on hordes of rebellious toys, traverse enchanted forests and navigate mazes of living books.
