Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Ships for Xbox 360, PS3

September 3, 2013 by Sara Leave a Comment

Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate is now available in North America for the Xbox 360 and PS3, a DOA package brimming with content aimed at both novice and expert fighters alike. Included among the new content is a handful of new online features, new stages, new modes and the addition of “new” fighters.

Some of the new additions aren’t all that new. Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate includes several fan-favorite characters in what’s already the biggest roster in franchise history. For instance, Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate marks the return of Ein and Leon as well as the introduction of the Dragon Shrine Maiden Momiji and Fiend Hunter Rachel from the Ninja Gaiden series. And let’s not forget Jacky from SEGA’s Virtua Fighter series.

In addition to the new characters, players can expect a plethora of new costumes, several interactive arenas, training and ranking modes, and upgraded online functionality and features. The new fighting modes include Team Fight mode, allowing players to create teams of up to seven characters to compete against other players offline or AI-controlled characters.

With “2 on 2” Tag Mode, players team up for online cooperative tag matches. Improved training modes have also been added providing new lessons for Tutorial mode. The Move Details from Dead or Alive 5 Plus has been expanded in Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, giving players highly-detailed information to study and implement in to their game plan. Nearly 1,000 titles are available with a huge library for each character. Battling in different modes, clearing new missions and other new challenges unlock titles to be used to customize player profiles.

Players wanting to sample what Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate has to offer can play the main game content in Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate: Core Fighters free of charge via the PlayStation Network. The free version includes four fighters (Ayane, Hayate, Kasumi and Ryu Hayabusa), and almost every game mode will be available.

Players can transfer unlocked titles, costumes and Story Mode progress from the PS3 version of Dead or Alive 5 as well as compete with combatants from both the free and full retail version of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate. Additional characters, Story Mode and other features can be accessed for a fee.
