Dead or Alive 5 Last Round to Release on PS4, Xbox One in Spring

September 30, 2014 by Sara

The fighting-game genre is a bit thin with the PS4 and Xbox One nearing their first anniversary. Team Ninja, creators of the Dead or Alive franchise, have announced their attempt to change that. Dead or Alive 5 Last Round will be the first DOA game to appear on the next-gen consoles.

Although it didn’t divulge a specific Dead or Alive 5 Last Round release date, Team Ninja did say Dead or Alive 5 Last Round would ship for the next-gen consoles in Spring 2015. The game won’t be exclusive to PS4 and Xbox One, as versions are also in development for both PS3 and Xbox 360.

Most interesting about the announcement is the news that Dead or Alive 5 Last Round will cost just $39.99 for the PS4 and Xbox One versions. That price will hold true whether you choose to download the game or buy a disc-based version at retail.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Dead or Alive 5 Last Round will cost $29.99. Those versions of the game will only be available digitally.

Dead or Alive 5 Last Round is aptly named. The game will include the core DOA 5 game plus “the best and brightest [DLC] content” and all-new content only found in the new “Last Round” version.

The game’s dynamic interactive stages will include even more destruction, new danger zones and a higher level of strategic choices for players. It will also include the largest roster of fighters in any DOA game to date. Among the fighters in Dead or Alive 5 Last Round are: Hayabusa, Hayate, Kasumi, Ayane, Rig, Momiji, Leon, Kokoro, Tina, Lisa, Brad Wong, Jann Lee, Hitomi, Leifang, Christie, Eliot, Leon, Gen Fu, Bayman, Bass, Zack, Helena, Marie Rose, Phase 4 and newly released Nyotengu along with Akira, Pai, Jacky and Sarah Bryant from the Virtua Fighter series.

Aside from the core characters and costumes, players will also have access to a host of character customization options. High on many DOA fans’ list will be poking through the game’s 300 total costumes, some of which will need to be unlocked. There’s also a host of new hairstyle and accessory options.

Players can bring their run of rosters, costumes and accessories from Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, as previously purchased DLC content will be transferable from last-gen consoles to the PS4 and Xbox One.
