How appropriate that the first gameplay details about Need for Speed Undercover are coming from the land of the Autobahn…. Do you suppose EA planned that, since they released the first information from Leipzig Games Convention? Nah….
Scheduled for release worldwide this November, Need for Speed Undercover will see players racing through speedways, dodging cops and chasing rivals as they go deep undercover to take down an international crime syndicate. The new game will mark the return of high-intensity police chases and introduces an all-new Heroic Driving Engine, a technology that generates high-performance moves at 180MPH during highway battles.
A mix of computer graphics and live-action movies will bring the Tri-City Bay Area to life as players speed through the city’s 80-mile environment. The open-world city will include a highway system as well as back roads, although even on the latter, the speeds will seldom dip below 80. Kids, don’t try this at home.
Going back to the franchise’s roots, Need for Speed Undercover will feature more aggressive cops powered by an intelligent new AI mechanic whose sole purpose is to take down the player by any means necessary.
As expected, Need for Speed Undercover will also feature car customization and real-world damage to licensed cars such as the Audi R8, BMW M6 and Lexus IS-F.
