Grand Theft Auto V in Development; Trailer to Appear Nov. 2

October 26, 2011 by Sara Leave a Comment

Rockstar Games logoFolks, it’s official: Grand Theft Auto V is in the works. That’s no typo: GTA V is currently in development by the Rockstar Games crew. The location is currently rumored to be Los Angeles, according to a source that spoke to Kotaku, but the chances of that being a total smokescreen are just as good as the chances that the info is legit.

On its corporate Website, Rockstar indicated that they’ll release a GTA V trailer on Nov. 2. Hopefully additional information will be released at that time as well, including where GTA V will take place and who its main character(s) will be. And yes, according to several sources who spoke to Kotaku, there may be more than one playable character in GTA V.

All of that is rumor and speculation at this point, and the presumption that more information (including a possible release year/date) will be revealed in the trailer could be equally fallible. Rockstar Games is the king of open-world games, but it’s also the king of teaser trailers that say nothing. We’ll find out more on Nov. 2, when the GTA V trailer releases.

The GTA V talk has reignited rumors of an impending new console from Microsoft, Sony or both, since both manufacturers are surely developing the specs for their next-generation systems. But again, connecting GTA V with a new console release all depends on GTA V’s anticipated release date — and which hardware manufacturer will be the first to flinch.

Does anyone care to place bets right now on when the posturing begins for “first press conference of E3 2012”?

Regardless, whatever Rockstar is going to officially reveal won’t happen until Nov. 2, when the GTA V trailer goes public. If Rockstar makes the trailer available, you’d better believe we’ll have it right here on DailyGame.
