Grateful Dead Joining the Rock Band Lineup

September 6, 2007 by Sara Leave a Comment

The Grateful Dead is making 18 master recordings from its diverse catalog available for inclusion in the upcoming videogame Rock Band.
These 18 titles, which will include such classic tracks as Truckin’, Uncle John’s Band, Touch of Grey, Sugar Magnolia and Casey Jones, will be available as digitally distributed game levels following Rock Band’s release this holiday season.
Rock Band is a new Guitar Hero-like platform for music fans and gamers to interact, but with a bit more depth. For instance, the game challenges players to put together a band (yes, that means a lead/bass guitar, drummer and vocalist) and tour via the videogame. We saw this one in action at EA’s Studio Showcase yesterday, and it looks to offer a bit more depth for would-be bands.
Rock Band is slated for release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this holiday season in North America.
