When Sony first announced the details of PlayStation Plus at E3 2010, we opined that the full-game trials were not only an innovative idea, but something that the industry (ahem, Microsoft) should have tried a while ago. Tomorrow (Dec. 21), PS3 owners will get to see that fullness first-hand, as Sony today announced that MAG is getting its first full-game trial.
PlayStation Plus members will be able to download a full version of MAG (4.7 GB) and play the game in any of its modes for free as long as they keep their PlayStation Plus membership current. The only limitation will be a Level 8 character cap, although XP will somehow still be earned and “remembered” for if and when the PS Plus member decides to purchase the full game.
Remember, this is just a “trial,” a la borrowing a library book.
To fully unlock MAG’s level cap, players will have to buy the game for $29.99. For that price, which is identical to the retail “Greatest Hits” version of MAG, PlayStation Plus members will also get all the features and updates through version 2.10.
