Mass Effect 3, the final game in BioWare’s epic space-based trilogy, will land at retailer on March 6, 2012, EA announced today at its E3 2011 press conference. In Mass Effect 3, an ancient alien race known as Reapers has launched an all-out invasion of the galaxy, leaving nothing but a trail of destruction in their wake. Earth has been taken, the galaxy is on the verge of total annihilation, and the player is the only one who can lead a team to stop them. The price of failure is nothing less than extinction.
As Commander Shepard, players will lead Earth’s counter assault to take the planet back, guiding their team through offensive and defensive maneuvers. But this won’t just be accomplished by traditional controls. On the Xbox Kinect version of Mass Effect 3, players will be able to command their troops and recite the entire game’s script using nothing but voice commands picked-up by the Kinect sensor’s microphone.
BioWare also unveiled today the Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector’s Edition, a special edition of the game featuring exclusive bonus content and unlockable items such as in-game appearance packs, a Dark Horse Comic Book, a hardcover art book, an exclusive extended soundtrack, exclusive lithograph and an exclusive N7 patch. The Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector’s Edition also gives instant access to the N7 Arsenal Pack, which features four tactical guns exclusive to this special edition. It’s not up on Amazon yet, but when it is, we’ll share the link so you can nab it.
