Namco Bandai knows a ton of fighting-game fans are looking forward to the next entry in the Soul Calibur franchise. That game, Soul Calibur 2 HD Online, will appear as a digital download only on Xbox 360 and PS3, but it is far closer than you may think. Namco today announced the Soul Calibur 2 HD Online release date as Nov. 19 for PS3 and Nov. 20 for Xbox 360.
In spite of the one-day exclusive for PlayStation, the game will cost the same on both platforms. So, whether you nab it from Xbox Live or PlayStation Network, Soul Calibur 2 HD Online will set you back $19.99. Not too shabby for a full fighting game.
Soul Calibur 2 HD Online re-imagines the beloved title by adding online multiplayer support, as well as updated HD graphics. The original Soul Calibur 2 has been called one of the best fighting games of all-time, so seeing it return with new high-definition graphics and online multiplayer support is great.
The updates are part of Namco’s celebration of the game’s 10-year anniversary. Now you know why those HD updates were necessary. Fans will also be pleased to hear that two legendary heroes, Spawn and Heihachi, originally exclusive guest characters, will be for the first time ever playable on both platforms.
So, which character will you first up as when the Soul Calibur 2 HD Online release date rolls around? Will it be one of those former exclusives, or a more-traditional franchise fave? Discuss your choice and reasoning below. Who are you most looking forward to fighting with 10 years later?
