I’ve always been a fan of the Need for Speed series, so getting the chance to see the Xbox One and PS4 version of Need for Speed Rivals was a treat during EA’s E3 2013 press conference. The Need for Speed Rivals game demo showed off a new “Cops vs. Racer” gameplay section in real time, and afterward EA released a corresponding Cops vs. Racer trailer as well. Due to an embargo, we had to delay posting the video for a time, but now we’re able to share it with you.
Need for Speed Rivals is in development and available for pre-order for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. This E3 video was captured on the Xbox One version, which showcases the game running on DICE’s latest version of the Frostbite engine, which is one of two engines EA is relying on for its next-gen games such as Need for Speed Rivals and Battlefield 4. The other game engine EA is using for Xbox One and PS4 development is the EA Ignite engine, which is being used exclusively for next-gen EA Sports titles such as Madden NFL 25, FIFA and NBA Live.
We toured EA’s E3 booth today and were able to get hands-on with Need for Speed Rivals on Xbox One in the EA booth earlier today and left impressed. We’ll have a full Need for Speed Rivals Xbox One and PS4 preview in the days ahead. In the meantime, enjoy the E3 video above.
