The NBA Finals are over, the NBA Draft is this week, baseball is in high gear and Tiger Woods is going to miss the rest of the golf season. That can mean only one thing: it’s time for tennis! So says, 2K Sports, anyway, which today shipped Top Spin 3 for the Xbox 360 PS3 (PlayStation 3), Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.
Top Spin 3 offers a variety of gameplay updates and multimedia features, including situation-specific behaviors, revamped audio with enhanced crowd reaction and controls that are pick-up-and-play easy yet provide stable and realistic handling.
The game features a career mode in which players can create their own tennis star or choose from one of the top-ranked professionals on the tennis circuit (including Andy Roddick, Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova) as well as legendary players such as Boris Becker, Bjorn Borg and Monica Seles.
Competitive players will also be able to create matches online and test their skills against friends or other ranked players around the world via singles or doubles in Exhibition, Custom, or World Tour Matches.
For all those graphics whores out there, 2K Sports has used a new engine that they call “Evolutionary Visuals” that shows players dynamically sweating and accumulating grass and clay stains on their clothing during the course of a match. The engine also supports dynamic weather effects mid-match.
