The PlayStation 3 successor to Sony’s awesome EyeToy peripheral has shipped to retail today. Called the PlayStation Eye, the high-quality camera comes bundled with The Eye of Judgment video game.
The PlayStation Eye offers a four-microphone array with multidirectional voice location tracking, enhanced echo canceling and background noise suppression, allowing for clear audio chat in even noisy environments. The PlayStation Eye also features a framerate of up to 120 frames per second, allowing for super-smooth video and low-light operations.
In addition to the bundled Eye of Judgment game (which is also sold on its own), Sony is also making EyeCreate editing software available for free download via the PlayStation Network. EyeCreate is a video capturing and editing program that lets users capture video and audio clips and export them to the PS3’s hard drive. The PlayStation Eye and EyeCreate also let users tinker with a host of different capturing modes, including stop-motion and time-lapse photography.
DailyGame recently saw the PlayStation Eye in action while playing a PS3 build of Burnout Paradise, and the image quality was amazing.
