Popular Science has awarded Sony’s PlayStation Move with a 2010 Best of What’s New Award, claiming in its article that the PlayStation Move is “the first motion-capture game system accurate enough to attract the hardcore gamers who consider the Wii and Microsoft Kinect to be kids’ stuff.”
Normally calling the Xbox Kinect “kids stuff” is akin to tossing out fighting words, but somehow when it comes from Popular Science it doesn’t seem so bad.
The editors of Popular Science selected PlayStation Move as the only video game technology worthy of the “Best of What’s New Award – Home Electronics” honor this year. Their full roundup is available here.
In addition to the Popular Science award, PlayStation Move was also recently named a CES Innovations 2011 Design and Engineering award-winner in the electronic gaming hardware category. Move was also awarded the National Parenting Center Seal of Approval in the video game category.
If you’ve got a Move, tell us what you think. Is the award warranted, or a victory for Sony’s PR team?
