PlayStation Home is finally here. Well, in beta form. But, the PlayStation Home beta available today is “open,” meaning anyone and everyone can participate.
As PS3 fans — and most gamers, at this point — know, PlayStation Home is sort of like Second Life meets Xbox Live, an ever-evolving experience in which players’ avatars mingle in an open world setting and can decorate their personal areas with memorabilia from their favorite games and products.
The open world of PlayStation Home also includes common areas such as theaters that allow viewers to watch new movie trailers, as well as game-themed areas for upcoming and current PS3 games.
The PlayStation Home Open Beta has a tutorial built-in to get players started with the controls, as well as help menus. Talking with people in Home can be accomplished either by the USB keyboard or a Bluetooth headset.
Sony will be announcing events, tournaments, content updates and feature revisions via the Home forums as the updates become available. Until then, go check out the open beta.
