Sid Meier and his Firaxis Studio entered the world of consoles today, as 2K Games began shipping Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution for both the PS3 (PlayStation 3) and Xbox 360. This entry in the strategy franchise marks the first time the team has created a Civ game specifically for a console.
A version of Civilization Revolution has also shipped in North America for the Nintendo DS.
Built specifically for the consoles and handheld system, Civilization Revolution features the franchise’s fastest pick-up-and-play action to date while still maintaining the core elements of the series: strategic global reign. Civilization Revolution also has been graphically and acoustically updated to reflect the next-gen systems.
In the new multiplayer component, players can log on to the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live or Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to challenge other gamers, while PS3 and Xbox 360 owners will also be able to download multiplayer maps and scenarios.
All three platforms will support the Game of the Week online feature, which provides new challenges every week after launch.
