Electronic Arts today announced the PS3 and Xbox 360 release date for Skate 2: January 21, 2009, in North America, and Jan. 23 worldwide. In the meantime, players can prepare for Skate 2’s release by tinkering around with the new Graphics Creator, a web-based customization tool scheduled to launch in December.
For those who pre-order now, EA will provide an exclusive code to unlock the Throwback Pack, a special upgrade pack that includes retro clothing, accessories and gestures.
Skate 2 will bring gamers into a rebuilt version of San Vanelona, which had to be rebuilt after an unspeakable disaster. Equipped with twice the number of tricks, players must rebuild their career and revive the skateboarding scene. Players will also have the ability to get off-board (YES!) and move objects around, creating their own epic spots and challenges — which can then be uploaded, shared and experienced by others.
Now, about this Graphics Creator: With this tool, gamers can create custom graphics for their in-game hats, decks and shirts. The Throwback Pack features a variety of retro stylings including, tie-dye t-shirts, Skate or Die apparel, Robot and ‘Window Shade’ sunglasses, gestures circa the hippie-age.
