Namco Bandai today celebrated North America’s 15th anniversary of the “Tales of” series by releasing Tales of Xillia exclusively for the PS3. The game is available now both at retail and digitally through the PlayStation Network. We will have a full review in the days ahead.
The highly anticipated next installment of the long-running series brings together an engaging cast of characters as they set forth across the mystical land of Rieze Maxia. Their perilous journey to restore the world’s mana will have them trying to figure out why the spirits that have been peacefully co-existing with humans for generations are beginning to die.
Tales of Xillia follows the grand adventures of Jude Mathis, a clever medical student attending school in the capital city of Fennmont. It also tells the tale of Milla Maxwell, a mysterious woman accompanied by four unseen beings. The story can be experienced from either Jude or Milla’s point of view, as their paths fatefully intertwine as they learn that the kingdom of Rashugal has been experimenting with a powerful device that has effectively drained the world’s supply of mana.
Faced with the realization that continued experiments would result in dangerous ramifications, Milla and Jude join forces to restore peace to a dying world in a perilous journey that will test their courage and convictions.
Tales of Xillia updates the series’ trademark dynamic real-time battle system with the Dual Raid Linear Motion Battle System. The new system allows two characters to be linked together to provide support attacks and powerful linked artes attacks, allowing players to strategize their party setup for their preferred style of play.
