Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception was unveiled today for the PS3, not by a game magazine or Web site but by Entertainment Weekly, a sure sign not only of how seriously Naughty Dog takes its story and medium, but on how big this franchise has become.
Among the juicy bits of information was the knowledge bomb that Uncharted 3: Drake’s Fortune will support full stereoscopic 3D, much like Call of Duty Black Ops (3D impressions on that one coming soon). That’s awesome.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will take fortune hunter Nathan Drake all over the world in a search for the fabled “Atlantis of the Sands,” a lost city in the desert. Along with his good friend Sully, Drake will travel across the globe and through the heart of the Arabian Desert in search of the lost city, but when he unearths its terrible secrets, the duo’s journey becomes a bid for survival that will showcase not only the development team’s storytelling prowess, but also its ongoing work on the physics, particle and visual effects in its game engine.
Competitive and co-op multiplayer will return in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, with a host of new features planned. Additional details will be published in the December 17 issue of Entertainment Weekly, but in the meantime, check out this video of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
