Sherlock Holmes has enjoyed a bit of a renaissance lately, and wouldn’t you know, the famed detective is going to be “reborn” on the PlayStation 4 as well. Sherlock Holmes Crimes and Punishments is an Unreal Engine 3-powered investigation game slated for release in “early 2014.” Sherlock Holmes Crimes and Punishments had previously been announced only for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
In Sherlock Holmes Crimes and Punishments, the good detective is up for a harder-than-elementary challenge as he leads numerous investigations in a variety of environments. Crimes & Punishments marks the most important stage in the Sherlock Holmes series of games, and its move to a next-gen system is bound to increase its profile accordingly.
Sherlock Holmes Crimes and Punishments includes several new investigation techniques, with the total number of game mechanics now up to 14. From the opening of each of the eight investigations up to the arrest of the culprits, these new mechanics will “convey the feeling of BEING Sherlock Holmes,” according to a release by publisher Focus Interactive.
In the game, “players will … be able to exploit the incredible gifts and talents for which [Holmes] is renowned, such as his ability to guess the details of an individual’s life simply by observing them, or to imagine and reconstruct a past event by studying the key features of a crime scene.”
