PlayStation 3 Getting DVR Functionality

August 23, 2007 by Sara Leave a Comment

It looks like Sony’s PlayStation 3 really will have even more computer-like functions, as the company has announced DVR (digital video recorder) functionality for the PS3 sometime in 2008.
According to Reuters, the PS3 will get a DVR accessory that will be a receiver for “terrestrial digital broadcasts such as the Freeview service in Britain.”
Gamers who own a PSP will also be able to transfer the recorded programming onto their handheld and watch them away from home.
Speaking of the PSP, Sony also announced that its handheld system will get a GPS (Global Positioning System) accessory to turn the gaming/movie-watching device into a navigation device as well.
