Dynasty Warriors: NEXT Confirmed for North American PlayStation Vita Launch

December 12, 2011 by Sara Leave a Comment

PS Vita thumbnailIt’s official — Dynasty Warriors: NEXT will be part of the PlayStation Vita launch-window lineup, as it’s currently slated to ship in North America on Feb. 22. The game will be an all-new and Vita-exclusive installment in the tactical action series in which players step into the shoes of the greatest generals in Ancient China try to become the greatest hero in Chinese history.

Dynasty Warriors: NEXT will let players use the PS Vita’s front touchpad, rear touchpad and motion sensor for intuitive controls to fight their battles and connect with others. The game will use button controls as well as the touch controls, with full six-axis detection.

For instance, players can touch or shake the PlayStation Vita to use the new “Speed Musou” in Dynasty Warriors: NEXT and hit their enemies with powerful attacks. Touch the screen to perform a “Direct Break,” and capture bases in the blink of an eye. You can also touch the map directly, without interrupting the action, to direct your subordinates with “Straight Commands.” A plethora of special missions will use a variety of touch and sensor controls as well.

Players will be able to play locally or online with Wi-Fi as well as 3G support, and using PlayStation Vita’s Live Area, a new Conquest Mode (which supports Wi-Fi and 3G) and a new four-player ad-hoc co-op multiplayer “Coalition Mode” will all be available.

Dynasty Warriors Next also sees the return of fan favourite “Edit Mode,” in which players can create and customize their own warriors. You know, if the 65-plus playable characters aren’t enough for you.
