Xbox One and PS4 Release Date Accidentally Revealed by EA?

Microsoft in its E3 media briefing said the Xbox One will release “this November” for $499, and Sony indicated in its E3 media briefing that the PlayStation 4 (PS4) will release “this holiday” for $399. Neither company announced a specific release date for its respective console, but did one of their valued partners accidentally release the Xbox One and PS4 release date? Could be.

In an email today to members of the media regarding Need for Speed Rivals — which looks awesome, by the way — EA let slip a specific date for the next-gen console releases. Oddly enough, the release date appears to be identical for both systems, which could be either an innocent mix-up or an epic twist of fate for gamers everywhere. Here’s the exact intro from EA’s email:

Need for Speed Rivals is going to incite a street racing rivalry between cops and racers like never before. Players must risk everything and trust no one in a seamless racing experience that will redefine the genre when it hits next-gen consoles on November 19, 2013.

If the Xbox One release date and the PS4 release date are in fact both on November 19, it will give retailers and gamers plenty of time to prepare their Black Friday Xbox One and PS4 shopping strategies. Such a release date also makes sense in terms of hardware production, as it would allow at least two or three waves of launch hardware to hit retail so holiday shoppers everywhere would increase their chances of getting a next-gen console this holiday season.
