The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD Bundle: First Details

August 28, 2013 by Sara Leave a Comment

Nintendo Wii UNintendo fired both (rolling) barrels at Sony and Microsoft today, unveiling the Nintendo 2DS, a Wii U price drop, and a new The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD Bundle. All three updates will hit stores within the next six weeks. Other than the price drop, The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD Bundle is likely to be met with the biggest applause.

The limited-edition The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD Bundle will launch Sept. 20 for $299.99. That price is the current cost of the Wii U Deluxe console, but it’ll be $50 more than the stand-alone console upon its release. However, considering the bundle will include a copy of Wind Waker HD, it actually reflects the total combined MSRP. However, considering everything included in it, it’s actually a bargain.

All told, The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD Bundle will include a black Deluxe Wii U console, a GamePad controller adorned with gold lettering, a gold Hyrule crest and gold symbols from the game, a download code for the digital version of Hyrule Historia (a book that details the chronology, history and artwork of The Legend of Zelda series), and a code that can be used to download The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker HD from the Nintendo eShop immediately at no additional cost.

The digital version of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will launch on Sept. 20, while the packaged version will launch Oct. 4 with distinctive gold-foil packaging. Both versions will have a suggested retail price of $49.99. GameStop is also offering an exclusive Ganondorf figurine bundled with the packaged game at a suggested retail price of $54.99.

So, is the combined news of a Wii U price drop and this new The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD Bundle enough to persuade you to buy a Wii U and perhaps hold off on a PS4 or Xbox One? Sound off in the comments.
