Wii U owners, your wait for Watch Dogs is almost over. After Ubisoft shipped the game for PS4 and Xbox One earlier this year, owners of a Nintendo platform were left wondering whether they’d be forgotten completely.
Not at all. Although Ubisoft has been mum for months, the company has now announced the Watch Dogs Wii U release date as November 18.
Although it comes months after the game set sales records for Ubisoft, The Watch Dogs Wii U release date will no doubt give a nice boost to the franchise’s total sales. After all, Wii U owners have been waiting for the next-gen game for some time.
In part to reward Wii U owners for that wait, and in part because the Wii U hardware has unique functionality, Ubisoft has incorporated some exclusive features for the Watch Dogs Wii U version.
For instance, the Watch Dogs Wii U SKU will show a detailed and interactive map of Chicago on the Wii U GamePad.
In addition, the game will support Off-TV Play, which lets gamers keep playing Watch Dogs solely on the Wii U GamePad while other family members or friends do other activities on the TV.
Watch Dogs tells the story of Aiden Pearce, a brilliant hacker whose criminal past led to a violent family tragedy. Now on the hunt for those who hurt his family, players will be able to monitor and hack their enemies by manipulating everything connected to the city’s Central Operating System (ctOS). Watch Dogs lets the player use Chicago as their ultimate weapon and exact their own style of revenge.
Watch Dogs shipped earlier this year for PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360. As a result, the wait for the Watch Dogs Wii U release date may seem long, but Wii U owners will at least know what they’re in for when the game ships. What they’re in for is a great game with some functions exclusive to Wii U.
Will that make the wait worth it, or do you wish Ubisoft would’ve shipped the Watch Dogs Wii U version at the same time without some of that extra functionality? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
