Konami today announced a new game in the Castlevania franchise, but it’s not the Castlevania game you’ve come to expect. It’s a fighter. And it’s exclusive to the Nintendo Wii.
Called Castlevania Judgment, the game bridges the series’ past with its present as it pits several generations of the Belmont clan against a host of characters that span the franchise’s 22-year history.
In 3D environments, players will be able to choose sides in a battle of good vs. evil using iconic Castlevania characters designed by famed manga artist Takeshi Obata. Using the motion-sensing controls of the Nunchuk and Wii Remote, players will slash, stab and whip their way across a variety of stages using various objects as weapons. Select characters can also set traps and make use of monsters on the field.
Since it’s a fighting game, it’s not surprising that players will also be able to compete head-to-head using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The interactivity extends to the Nintendo DS, which players can use to connect with Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia to unlock bonus gameplay content.
