It’s not everyday you hear about an adult-themed game heading for the Nintendo Wii, but now that the Wii is the world’s best-selling console this generation, it’s bound to happen. In fact, today a publisher named Deep Silver announced just such a game.
Called Cursed Mountain, this survival horror game will be a Wii exclusive set in the 1980s, with gamers taking on the role of a mountaineer climbing the Himalayas on a search for his lost brother. Sounds a bit like Silent Hill with Yeti, no?
As the main character climbs the mountain, he will encounter the souls of those who died in that region and are stuck in limbo. Villagers, pilgrims, mountaineers and Buddhist monks –all dead but not yet reincarnated — are the only things left on the mountain. Terrible visions will disorient him, and ghosts and demons will block his path as he struggles to find out whether his brother is alive or one of the spirits stuck in the Shadow World.
The gesture-based combat system will use the Wii’s motion sensitivity by letting players use the Wii Remote to look around, sense the environment, climb and fight enemies.
Cursed Mountain is scheduled for a worldwide release in 2009.
