Activision will once again enter the racing-game scene, as the company has announced plans to distribute Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli for the PS3, Wii, DS and PS2 later this summer in North America.
Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli is billed as an “accessible” game, yet Activision says it feels more like a driving “sim” than an arcade game. With more than 15 international racing circuits and online multiplayer racing for up to 16 people, there should be plenty of time to test out that “sim vs. arcade” claim.
The gameplay modes in Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli will include Ferrari Challenge Seasons, Time Trial, Quick Race and Endurance, with the multiplayer options including circuits and hill climbs, among other modes.
As a PS3 game, the title will get loads of downloadable content. In addition to the official team and car rosters being updatable at the start of each season to reflect real-world lineups, downloadable cars, tracks and customization options will be made available on a monthly basis.
Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli will make its public debut on the PS3 at the Montreal Grand Prix from June 6-8 (this weekend). There will be playable kiosks open to the all attendees in the Fan Zone.
