Mega Man Finally Makes Wii Vitrual Console Debut

August 18, 2008 by Sara Leave a Comment

It’s Monday morning, which means Nintendo will upload two Virtual Console games and one WiiWare game at 9am PST. And one of those Virtual Console games is going to be music to gamers’ ears: the original Mega Man.

Whether you’re experiencing the vintage robot adventure for the first time or re-living the fun of your NES heyday, you’ll find all the game’s side-scrolling thrills intact. Meanwhile, players with a passion for sinking the perfect shot can rule the table with a new WiiWare pool title or conquer the links in a globetrotting Virtual Console golf game.

Mega Man (500 Wii Points) made his NES debut to do battle with the evil Dr. Wily and his robotic henchmen. A super-robot created by the genius scientist Dr. Light, Mega Man must traverse a series of stages full of enemies, traps and perilous platforming. At the end of each stage, Mega Man must conquer one of the robot masters and claim his weapon, using it to his advantage in later fights.

The other Virtual Console game headed online today, Neo Turf Masters (900 Wii Points), is a golf game that was first released in 1996. The player picks one of six available golfers and competes on a number of golf courses around the world. The game features two modes: Stroke Play, in which the player attempts to get the best score by playing all 18 holes; and Match Play, in which two players compete to see who can win more of the 18 holes.

Today’s WiiWare upload is called Midnight Pool (800 Wii Points). Published by Gameloft, Midnight Pool sees players taking a trip across America to play in a pool tournament that takes place in colorful bars for a million-dollar purse. The game includes pool tutorials along the way, as well as trick-shot opportunities, and supports three sets of rules.
