Mid-week Shipping News

July 25, 2007 by Sara

Three games from three different publishers are shipping this week, and they’re coming to four different platforms.
First off, Sega has shipped Alien Syndrome for both the Nintendo Wii and the Sony PSP. Alien Syndrome is a fast-paced game that combines the role-playing and shooter genres in a sci-fi universe. In addition to its single-player adventure, it also provides co-op multiplayer mode for up to four players.
Next up, 2K Games shipped Sid Meier’s Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword, the latest expansion pack for the popular Civ IV series. Beyond the Sword sets a series milestone by showcasing the largest amount of expansion content in the history of the Civilization franchise. So what’s all included in that massive content? Glad you asked. This expansion focuses on the late-game time periods after the invention of gunpowder, delivering 11 different scenarios created by the development team at Firaxis Games as well Civilization IV fans. All told, Beyond the Sword includes 10 new civilizations, 16 new leaders, five new wonders and a variety of new units.
And finally, KOEI today shipped Dynasty Warriors DS: Fighter’s Battle to retailers nationwide. The new DS game, which is the first Dynasty Warriors tactical-action game to appear on Nintendo’s handheld, includes new characters and designs inspired by Japanese anime.
In the game, players take the role of one of three new characters: the Phoenix (whose special attribute is balance), the Dragon (whose special attribute is speed) and the Chimera (whose special attribute is power). Using a Battle Deck of cards, players select up to seven of the original Dynasty Warriors to serve as officers who will defend their bases. A new ‘Obstacle Roulette System then lets players unleash tactics or spells using cards from the players’ Battle Deck. And yes, the game includes a wireless versus mode.
