The classic board game Monopoly is coming soon to Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, EA and Hasbro announced today. Monopoly will be the first of several Hasbro-related games EA will release in the year ahead.
EA’s Monopoly video game is inspired by Hasbro’s Monopoly Here & Now: The World Edition board game, which is set to release this fall. The next-gen Monopoly video games are set to release at the same time.
The new digital gaming edition will include a party twist and four-player simultaneous play. Before you worry about 12-hour marathons, though, EA is quick to assure us that the Monopoly videogame will have faster gameplay so players can wheel and deal their way through some of the most recognizable cities and landmarks around the world.
Players can also unlock new and never-before-seen game boards, or challenge each other to fun interactive mini-games like breaking out of the jail cell and running away with the loot.
Monopoly will have an offline single-player or multiplayer mode. EA did not indicate whether the Xbox 360 version will include online play via Xbox Live.
Monopoly will also appear on PS2 and mobile phones.
