A new multiplayer puzzle game featuring octopi was announced for the Nintendo Wii today. The game, called Octomania, is scheduled to ship March 11 for $19.99.
Here’s the game’s premise: On a peaceful day in the land of Lonronpia, an apprentice magician is summoning up her favorite treat. When her spell goes horribly awry, hundreds of thousands of octopi (that’s the plural for octopus, boys and girls) suddenly rain down from the clouds. A guardian angel appears before the magician, asking her to rid the land of the octopi and undo the damage of her failed spell.
Octomania’s story takes players to multiple locations to battle a variety of clever and humorous opponents. The Arcade Mode, meanwhile, lets players jump straight into the action, while Endless Mode lets players see how long they can hang in there before their screen fills up with octopi.
The new Wii puzzle game also includes local head-to-head and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection multiplayer modes. Two players can face off online, and up to four players can play in local multiplayer.
