After a long, lazy holiday weekend, it’s time to shake off your post-Thanksgiving daze and fire up that brand new Nintendo Wii. You know, just to make sure it works properly before you give it to the kids on Christmas…. If you want to test it out, Nintendo has uploaded three new games to WiiWare and its Virtual Console.
Nintendo’s WiiWare service saw two of those new games, Space Invaders Get Even and Pit Crew Panic. Space Invaders Get Even (500 Wii Points) has players taking control of a UFO and making Earthlings pay by unleashing a fleet of invaders against human tanks, fighter jets and artillery. The invaders have five attack types and a mothership at their disposal.
Pit Crew Panic (800 Wii Points), from Hudson, is a fast-paced game during which the pit crew must repair vehicles using the Wii Remote. The controls are simple: grab a member of the crew with the Wii Remote’s A Button, then release the button when the pointer is over the damaged part to make that crew member begin repairs. The game can be played with a maximum of four Wii Remote controllers, allowing gamers to team up with friends and family.
On the Wii Virtual Console, Metal Slug 2 (900 Wii Points), which originally released in 1998, is now ready for download. Metal Slug 2 is a side-scrolling action game in which players blaze a trail by shooting, jumping and wielding heavy machine guns, shotguns and laser guns. Two-player action is fully supported, so players can get blast-happy with their Wii-loving friends.
