Super Dodge Ball Heads for Virtual Console

September 22, 2008 by Sara Leave a Comment

Two games headed to the Wii Virtual Console today, Super Dodge Ball and Vectorman, one of which we’re much more excited about than the other. Bet you can tell which one by the headline….

Super Dodge Ball (500 Wii Points) is an NES classic. In the game, up to two players take control of the USA Dodge Ball team and travel the world in an effort to become the best dodgeballers around. Players step onto courts all over the globe and use a combination of normal and super shots to help take down their opponents. Although it was “only” an NES game, it still included team-management aspects, as players can swap out characters with other players that better fit the player’s playing style. Two players can enjoy a head-to-head game, or play a spirited round of Bean Ball, a six-character free-for-all. Three difficulty levels are available (Easy, Medium, and Hard).

The other Virtual Console game, Vectorman (800 Wii Points), made its debut on Sega Genesis and took place in the year 2049, when mankind is forced to abandon an over-polluted Earth and seek out other planets for colonization while the mechanized Orbots stay behind to clean up the mess. Sounds a bit like Pixar’s WALL*E, doesn’t it? When the Orbot leader, WarHead, starts blowing a few circuits and causes a war among the mechanical brethren, a sludge pilot named Vectorman is the only one willing to step up and fight him. Now we’re a bit less into WALL*E territory….

Players morph into a speeding train, a power drill, a mechanical fish and a mighty dune buggy in this adventure game, equipping themselves with weapons and picking up morphs and power-ups to defeat WarHead.
