2K Sports sent word today that Top Spin 3 has gone gold for PS3 (PlayStation 3), Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS. The tennis game is now on track to be available at North American retailers on June 24.
Top Spin 3 features new controls, signature player animations and styles to go along with its updated online offerings. Among the current tennis superstars in Top Spin 3 are Andy Roddick, Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova. Legendary players such as Boris Becker, Bjorn Borg and Monica Seles are also included in the next-gen versions.
If you’re not into role playing, perhaps you’d like to create your own tennis player. 2K Sports has included a player-creator system that lets fans take control over every aspect of their character via a new face-sculpting editor not unlike that in Don King Presents: Prizefighter. Swing animations, hairstyles, makeup, tattoos and grunts can also be customized.
Top Spin 3’s gameplay updates include situation-specific behaviors and the ability to create online and offline matches via singles or doubles in Exhibition, Custom or World Tour Matches.
Meanwhile, the game’s multimedia enhancements include revamped audio with enhanced crowd reaction and “Evolutionary Visuals” that show players sweating, getting fatigued and accumulating grass and clay stains on their clothing during the course of a match. The game also includes weather effects and changes mid-match.
