The Autobots and Decepticons have transformed into playable characters once again, as Transformers: Dark of the Moon shipped to retail stores nationwide today for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Set in the world of the upcoming feature film, Transformers: Dark of the Moon lets fans fight through battles as they unravel Megatron’s sinister plan.
Created by High Moon Studios, the Xbox 360 and PS3 game features new gameplay mechanic called Stealth Force, which lets players instantly convert to a hybrid state that combines the weapons and firepower of Robot mode with the agility and maneuverability of Vehicle mode. This mode can be played in the single-player campaign to save humanity as one of several Transformer characters, and it can also be played with or against their friends via the online multiplayer modes.
The multiplayer modes in Transformers: Dark of the Moon also give players the ability to personalize their characters’ look with numerous appearance, weapons and skills customization options.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon is set in unique environments around the world, such as the Jungles of Central America, Siberian military facilities and urban cityscapes. That means, boys and girls, that the movie will likely take place in the same locales, since the game’s based on the upcoming theatrical experience that hits on June 29.
Activision has also released a Nintendo 3DS and Wii version of the game called Transformers: Dark of the Moon Stealth Force Edition. This version, developed by Behaviour Interactive, follows a prologue storyline and harnesses the power of Stealth Force to focus gameplay on vehicular combat, allowing fans to obliterate enemies at high speed with advanced weapons, defense systems and targeting capabilities as they slalom between cars and dodge fire in a highly maneuverable vehicle form.
