Disney Interactive Studios today shipped Ultimate Band for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS, a new musical game that muddles a genre already consisting of Rock Band, Guitar Hero World Tour and Konami’s Rock Revolution.
In Ultimate Band, players can jam alone or as a member of a band, advancing from garage-band beginners to stadium-filling superstars. The new games use only the Wii controllers or Nintendo DS stylus to rock, so you don’t have to worry about expensive peripherals.
Ultimate Band’s song list includes contemporary songs like “Steady As She Goes” or “Fell In Love With a Girl” as well as classics like “My Generation” and “Whip It.” The Nintendo DS version also allows players to create their own songs, laying down tracks for lead, rhythm and bass guitars as well as drums.
The Wii version does not support song-creation, but it does enable character customization. Ultimate Band for Wii lets players determine their entire band’s look, style and attitude. Choosing their own stage look and clothing, players can create unique characters that reflect their own personalities and ambitions. As they advance along the path to superstardom, players unlock new songs, venues and accessories that can be used to customize their band members.
