Another Monday, another WiiWare and Virtual Console batch of games prepare to get uploaded to Nintendo’s Wii Shop Channels. This week, it’s one WiiWare and two Virtual Console games, but even though one of the Virtual Console games is a Sega classic, we admit, we’re more excited about the WiiWare game this time around.
Called “Wild West Guns” (1-2 players, 1,000 Wii Points), the newest WiiWare game is akin to a House of the Dead game in which players draw their revolver to see if they’re the fastest gun in the West. Players must adjust their speed and precision as targets or enemies appear in front of them — but avoid shooting innocent citizens. Missions include an Old West-style train attack and other classic Western environments. In addition to the single-player game, there’s also a two-player multiplayer mode, one part of which involves two “pardners” combining points, and the other a competitive mode to see who has the fastest gun in the West.
The Virtual Console isn’t exactly seeing a slouch this week, though, as one of its two games is Sonic The Hedgehog. This Virtual Console version (500 Wii Points) isn’t the Genesis original, but the Sega Master System remake, complete with new stages, bosses, some different zones and a level map. In addition, the Chaos Emeralds have to be found within certain stages other than the Special Stages.
Splatterhouse 2 (800 Wii Points) rounds out the Virtual Console updates this week. In this rather violent game, which takes place a few months after escaping from the first mansion in the original Splatterhouse, Rick once again encounters the Terror Mask and must use its powers to rescue his beloved Jennifer. Rick will need to punch, slash, smash and even chainsaw his way through a haunted mansion against unspeakable horrors and bosses to make it out alive.
