Deus Ex: Human Revolution has been delayed until at least Q2 2011, Square Enix has revealed. No specific reasons were provided for the delay, although game delays are normally a sign of the development team needing more time to polish it up.
However, that may not necessarily be the case with the delay of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. In its recent earnings release, Square downgraded its financial forecasts and mentioned that console games in general are seeing weaker sales. Tell that to Activision and its Call of Duty: Black Ops sales record.
Regardless, Square may have simply pushed the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution until at least April 2011 simply to “wait out” the current economy and see if console game sales pick back up. In other words, the developers may have been making good progress on the game, and now they just have additional time for extra polish.
