GameTap Launches for Macintosh

July 9, 2007 by Sara

GameTap, the broadband network once enjoyed only by PC gamers, announced plans today to launch for the Macintosh. Intel-based Mac users can now access GameTap’s Lite Player, which offers more than 500 game titles and more than 600 streaming videos from GameTap TV.
Among the games that Mac users can access are: Metal Slug, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Sonic the Hedgehog, Space Invaders, Neo Turf Masters and King of Fighters ’95. Some of these games have never previously been available for Mac gamers.
Using TransGaming’s Cider portability engine, all of GameTap’s free and Gold-level membership games and features from the PC will run on all Intel-based Macs, including Mac Books and Mac Minis. Later this summer, Mac users will receive access to GameTap’s Deluxe Player, which offers full-screen gameplay, customizable control settings and the ability to download games while playing another game.
