RAGE Comic Book Series in the Works by Dark Horse Comics and Bethesda

March 11, 2011 by Sara Leave a Comment

Bethesda Game Studios logoid Software’s upcoming RAGE videogame is getting its own comic book series courtesy of Dark Horse Comics, Bethesda Softworks announced today. The first of the series’ three comic books will be available June 22, with the story being written by Arvid Nelsion (creator of Rex Mundi) and the art penciled by Andrea Mutti (DMZ). The cover art is being created by Glenn Fabry, best known for his work on Hellblazer and Preacher.

The RAGE comic books will be set prior to the events in the game, but Dark Horse promises to use the pages to shed light on the game’s overall storyline. The series will present a new twist on the post-apocalyptic near future as one woman discovers that the survival of humankind doesn’t necessarily mean the survival of humanity.

In the series, Earth has been devastated by a collision with an asteroid, and only a tiny fraction of the population has survived by living in life-sustaining Arks buried deep below the Earth’s surface. After emerging from their Arks, the survivors find a wasteland controlled by a global military dictatorship called the Authority. But a rescued scientist learns that the Authority has lied to her and the other survivors about how this new world came to be.

Comics always hate liars, so you can see where this one’s headed.

RAGE the game, which is slated to release Sept. 13 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, won’t stray too far from this overall theme. In the game, which is also set in the not-too-distant future, players emerge to discover humanity working to rebuild itself against forces such as bandit gangs, mutants and other heinous groups.

Although you can’t pre-order the RAGE comic books online, you can definitely reserve your copy of the game from Amazon. Here are the links to do so, if you so wish:
