Steam Gets First MMO: EVE Online

January 22, 2008 by Sara Leave a Comment

EVE Online, an ambitious but years-old massively multiplayer online (MMO) game from CCP, is coming to Steam. Valve announced the digital-distribution partnership along with word of a special incentive.

EVE Online is the first MMO to appear on Steam, Valve’s online distribution channel.

To celebrate the launch of Steam’s first MMO, a special 21-day trial period for EVE will be available free of charge to all Steam gamers. Steam gamers will also save $5 off their first full month of EVE Online.

EVE Online hosts hundreds of thousands of players in the same persistent universe. The latest EVE Online expansion, which (like all EVE Online expansions) are free, includes a massive graphic update for the years-old game as well as a host of new gameplay features.
