Warhound Announced for Xbox 360, PC

July 25, 2007 by Sara

Techland, the developers behind the solid Old-West shooter Call of Juarez, are working on a new first-person-shooter franchise. Called Warhound, the game will ship for both Xbox 360 and PC.
Scheduled to release in 2008 on both platforms, Warhound will have players fighting all over the world as an elite mercenary. As an ex-Delta Force operative, players will find themselves now working for the world’s largest military contractor. Eventually, players will uncover a massive terrorist plot that targets the United States and thousands of its citizens.
The gameplay in Warhound sounds quite intriguing. Players have complete freedom with the game’s missions, weapons, battlefield tactics and vehicles. For instance, players can select mission start times, insertion/extraction points and the type of insertion (land, sea or air). Players will also need to keep on top of their training, finances and position in the competitive mercenary market, as more successful missions equals more money, which can in turn be used to buy new equipment and weapons for future jobs.
In terms of character customization, players will be able to train their character in several skills, including climbing, repair, and weapons proficiency. Also, in a nod to Oblivion, Fable and other such games with skills-based evolution, the character’s skills are earned and developed as they would be the real world — through practice. For instance, shooting ranges improve accuracy, while running around tracks and climbing walls will boost cover and movement skills.
