Fable Anniversary Xbox 360 Release Date: Feb. 4

December 13, 2013 by Sara Leave a Comment

With more than 2 million Xbox One consoles sold, Microsoft could be forgiven for thinking only about its next-gen system. But the company isn’t, and in fact plans to continue releasing games for its Xbox 360 platform well into 2014. Case in point: the company has announced a Fable Anniversary Xbox 360 release date of February 4, 2014, in North America. The game will ship on Feb. 6 in Asia and Feb. 7 in Europe.

The Fable Anniversary Xbox 360 edition will have a very limited run, according to Microsoft, so it’s highly encouraged that interested Xbox 360 owners pre-order Fable Anniversary from Amazon to ensure they get a copy. It’s unclear just how scarce the game will be, but Microsoft did say that “supplies [will be] limited to the initial print run of the game.”

Fable Anniversary will be the first time the original Fable game will be available on the Xbox 360 platform. An older game by nature, the Xbox 360 Anniversary edition will feature “dramatically upgraded” HD graphics, remastered audio and a new interface. The game will also feature Achievements and SmartGlass integration, as well as all of the content from “The Lost Chapters” expansion.

Lionhead Studios also revealed that each limited-run box of Fable Anniversary will include a 5×5 code for the Launch Day Weapons and Outfits Pack. The card will come inside a shiny, slip-on embossed case. It will also feature a special 10th Anniversary Lion’s Head Avatar Helmet along with the following content:

  1. Scythe’s Outfit
  2. A Black Graduate Outfit
  3. A Red Prophet Outfit
  4. A Blue Guard Outfit
  5. A Red Guard Outfit
  6. A Lute Weapon
  7. A Will User’s Sceptre Weapon

For gamers who missed out on the first Fable, Feb. 4 will be a good opportunity to experience a great “older” Xbox game. Although nowhere near as deep as something from The Elder Scrolls series, the action RPG features a main hero whose skills and attributes are upgraded based entirely on how gamers play the game. Its skill trees aren’t nearly as deep or customizable, but the “automatic” nature of the upgrades based on play style acts as a nice gateway drug to the deeper role-playing aspects in Oblivion, Skyrim and games of that ilk. And for Xbox One owners who never played Lionhead’s original, Fable Anniversary will be a good warm-up for the next-gen release of The Elder Scrolls Online and The Witcher 3.
