Gears of War 3 may just be getting the Horde Command Pack DLC, but Epic and Microsoft are jumping the gun on the next Gears of War 3 DLC announcement, unveiling that the “Versus Booster Map Pack” will be available on Nov. 24 for free on Xbox Live Marketplace. There goes the Thanksgiving football fiesta….
The Gears of War 3 Versus Booster Map Pack will feature five maps available in public matchmaking playlists. The maps include two favorites from the original Gears of War — Swamp and Clocktower — as well as Azura, Rustlung and Blood Drive from the Horde Command Pack.
If you purchased the Horde Command Pack (or plan on doing so), you’ll still have exclusive access to the pack’s Horde fortification upgrades, new playable characters and the Team Plasma and Jungle Camo weapon skins. Only the maps’ functionality in public matchmaking will be made available to “the masses.”
There’s also a new trailer for the Horde Command Pack up today on the Xbox Live Marketplace.
Following the free Thanksgiving release of the Versus Booster Map Pack, Gears of War 3 owners will have their next round of Gears 3 DLC on Dec. 13, when “RAAM’s Shadow” is made available for 1200 Microsoft Points.
