Atari has announced its tennis-simulation game Smash Court Tennis 3 will ship for Xbox 360 this June, but it will not have a PlayStation 3 counterpart.
Smash Court Tennis 3 marks the first time this series has appered on a “next-gen” console, making its lack of a PS3 SKU all the more intriguing.
Smash Court Tennis 3 will include customizable playable characters in addition to established stars such Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, Rafael Nadal and Martina Hingis and up-and-comers including Andreas Seppi and Nicole Vaidisova. Each player has his or her own strengths and weaknesses. A host of customizing options will let players choose rackets, shoes, hairstyles, skin tone and clothing.
The gameplay modes will include Tutorial, Arcade, Pro-Tour and an Exhibition in which up to four players can compete head-to-head offline. The game also features an online mode allowing players to play via Xbox Live, which will fully support online tennis tournaments. Online doubles matches will also be an option.
