Xbox 360 Games with Gold October 2014 Games: Battlefield and Darksiders

October 1, 2014 by Sara

Microsoft today launched two new Xbox 360 Games with Gold October 2014 games, and for the first time in months, they’re both impressive. The first of the Xbox 360 Games with Gold October 2014 games is Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Later in the month the second of the Xbox 360 Games with Gold October 2014 games will launch: Darksiders 2.

As the first of the Xbox 360 Games with Gold October 2014 games, Battlefield 2: Bad Company has set the bar high for Xbox 360 owners. The original Bad Company was the first time EA took the Battlefield franchise in a different direction, and gamers and critics alike loved it.

The sequel followed in those footsteps, and while it didn’t get quite the same level of acclaim, it was still impressive.

Seeing BF: Bad Company 2 as one of the Xbox 360 Games with Gold October 2014 games is a great development for Xbox 360 owners. The game, free in October, normally retails for $19.99.

The second of the Xbox 360 Games with Gold October 2014 games, Darksiders 2, will launch October 16. At that point, BF: Bad Company 2 will no longer be available for free. Darksiders 2 normally retails for $49.99, so having it free with the Games with Gold program in October is a bit of a coup.

Darksiders 2 was one of the last high-profile and excellent games from THQ before the company went belly up. You can read more about it on its official game page on Xbox.com.

Xbox 360 owners seem to have a leg up on their Xbox One-owning kin. Whereas there are two new Xbox 360 Games with Gold October 2014 games, Xbox One owners are getting just one. Although there are technically two Xbox One games for free all month long via the Games with Gold program in October, one of them is a holdover from September.

Xbox 360 owners get two new Games with Gold this month, though they’ll each only be available for two weeks.

Which model do you think is better? Is it more important to have more free games, as Xbox 360 owners are getting? Or is it better to have fewer “new” games but have them available for download for a longer period of time, as Xbox One owners get? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
