If you’re looking for a can’t-miss game to drool over while waiting for your Xbox One order to be fulfilled, you’ll be pleased to know Ubisoft has begun shipping Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag to retail. You won’t be able to play the Xbox One version until Nov. 22, when Microsoft’s console ships, but at least you’ll know it’s waiting for you to fire-up the next-gen system for the first time.
Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag was one of the most impressive Xbox One games we saw at E3, which is when we last had the opportunity to personally see it in action. The next-gen version, like its PS4 kin, brings the beautiful and dangerous seamless open world of pirates and Caribbean to life with stunning next generation graphics.
Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag tells the story of Edward Kenway, who falls from privateering for the Royal Navy into piracy as the war between the major empires comes to an end. Edward is a fierce pirate and a seasoned fighter who soon finds himself embroiled in the ancient war between Assassins and Templars. Set at the dawn of the 18th century, the game features some of the most infamous pirates in history, such as Blackbeard and Charles Vane, and takes players on a journey throughout the West Indies during a turbulent and violent period of time that becomes known as the Golden Age of Pirates.
Ubisoft has also announced the Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag Season Pass for $19.99, which includes Freedom Cry, a brand new self-contained story more than four hours long that features Edward Kenway’s first mate, Adewale; the exclusive Kraken Ship Pack; additional single-player missions; weapons; skins and collectibles; and new characters for an expansive multiplayer experience.
The Black Flag Season Pass represents a 20% savings off the regular price of each individual downloadable pack included. The Season Pass will be available for Xbox One and PS4 as well as the current-gen Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game.
