Buy GTA 5 for Xbox One, Get $15 Back at Microsoft Stores

November 12, 2014 by Shilpa

Looking to buy GTA 5 for Xbox One? If you’re open to pre-ordering the game, you may want to do so via the Microsoft Store website. If you do, you’ll not only get GTA 5 for Xbox One on its release date but also $15 back in your pocket.

The GTA 5 release date is Nov. 18 for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. We’ll surely see some GTA 5 sales tied to Black Friday 2014 ads, but Microsoft’s promotion has already begun. It runs now until the day GTA 5 for Xbox One actually hits stores. Fortunately, the promo works on other games as well.

To take advantage of Microsoft’s promotion, you need to be an Xbox Live Rewards member. Membership is completely free, and the marketing emails sent to members are surprisingly few in number. So, if you play Xbox One games a lot, it’s a useful program to be part of.

Here’s how the GTA 5 for Xbox One $15 cash-back promo works. Any Xbox Live Rewards member who pre-orders GTA 5 for Xbox One through the Microsoft Store or the Microsoft Store website will earn 15,000 Rewards Credits. Those credits are then immediately redeemable for money to spend via the Xbox Store on any DLC, movie rentals or anything else you wish to buy.

Though Microsoft promoted the special leading up to the GTA 5 release date, the cash-back promo actually works for any pre-orderable game that ships this holiday season. The promo also includes free shipping to ensure gamers get the title on the day it releases. Both Xbox One and Xbox 360 games are eligible for the promo.

If you choose to take advantage of this promotion, make sure you use the email associated with your Xbox Live Rewards account when you place your online order. That will be the only way the system can assign your Rewards Credits once your pre-order ships.

Xbox Live Rewards members who qualify for the offer won’t be able to qualify for the $10 Xbox Gift Card that’s currently be promoted on the Microsoft Store website. You didn’t really think you’d be able to double-dip, did you?
