Delayed: WWE 2K15 Release Date for PS4 and Xbox One

September 16, 2014 by Sara Leave a Comment

The WWE 2K15 release date for PS4 and Xbox One has been delayed by almost a full month, 2K announced today. The delayed WWE 2K15 release date on next-gen systems is presumably to give Visual Concepts time to work out some last-minute bugs associated with the new consoles.

The WWE 2K15 release date for PS4 and Xbox One is now Nov. 21. It was originally scheduled to ship on Oct. 28.

2K confirmed that the WWE 2K15 release date will remain the same, Oct. 28, for both PS3 and Xbox 360 in North America. The wrestling game will ship internationally on Oct. 31.

No specific reasons were cited for the WWE 2K15 release date delay.

“Visual Concepts and Yuke’s are committed to delivering the most authentic and action-packed WWE experience to date, including release for the very first time on next-generation consoles,” said Greg Thomas, President of Visual Concepts, in a prepared statement. “The additional development time enables our talented teams to ensure the WWE 2K15 next-gen experience fully meets our expectations.”

Considering the delay only affects the PS4 and Xbox One versions, the delay is likely tied to graphical stability issues. That could be anything from textures and wrestler models to framerate issues.

PS4 fanboys will be tempted to point to framerate issues, if that’s indeed a culprit for the delay, as further evidence that the PS4 has superior hardware compared to the Xbox One.

However, the PS4 and Xbox One versions have both been delayed, so singling out one system over the other is unfair and perhaps inaccurate.

WWE 2K15 is being developed collaboratively by Yukes and Visual Concepts. Visual Concepts is perhaps best known for its outstanding NBA 2K and NFL 2K video game franchises.
